Understanding PTSD

You do not have to carry it alone

Post-traumatic stress disorder can follow one overwhelming event or a long stretch of hard experiences. It shows up differently for everyone. Some people relive what happened through memories or nightmares. Others feel constantly on guard, avoid reminders, or notice their mood and sense of safety have shifted in ways that are hard to explain.

These responses are not a sign of weakness, and they are treatable. At MWI Health, PTSD treatment starts with a careful look at what you are experiencing, then a plan built around your life, not a one-size-fits-all script. That plan may include trauma-focused psychotherapy, medication management, or a combination, and it changes as you do.

Our providers work across South Dakota, North Dakota, and Iowa, so you can start care close to home or from your own living room by telehealth. There is no referral required, and most people are seen without a long wait.
