Teresa Shuck

LPC

My name is Teresa Shuck, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, at MWI Health in Rapid City. I earned my bachelor’s degree in psychology from Black Hills State University and my master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling from South Dakota State University. I hold certifications in CAMS-Care, Accelerated Resolution Therapy, and the Cortina Method of Healing PTSD. I am also a Certified Trauma Professional.

I specialize in anxiety, depression, and trauma, working primarily with youth, adolescents and adults. My approach to care is evidence-based trauma treatment, and I often use mindfulness based practices, CBT, and trauma-focused treatments. I believe it is important for people to understand why they are going through the challenges they are facing, so psychoeducation is also an important part in my therapy practices.

I chose this profession because I lived trauma, and I want to help others realize that trauma doesn’t have to define who you are and can be resolved with the right therapy techniques.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family, listening to music, and playing video games. I also practice mindfulness meditation and like to color! I believe these activities help me stay balanced and energized to support my clients.
