Chad Cooper

CSW-PIP, QHMP

My name is Chad Cooper, and I am a Social Worker CSW-PIP, Certified CANS Assessor at MWI Health. I earned my Bachelor’s in Psychology from the University of Wyoming and my Master of Social Work from the University of South Dakota and hold certifications in Child and Adolescent Needs and Strengths Assessment (CANS).

I specialize in a broad range of services including individual therapy, couples counseling, and adolescent care, working primarily with individuals with severe mental illness, veterans, and diverse populations across the lifespan. My approach to care is strengths-focused and evidence-based, and I often use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy as well as mindfulness-based and problem-solving approaches to support my clients.

I chose this profession because when I was enlisted in the Army, I saw how mental illness affected my brothers and sisters who served and still serve, and how it was not accurately portrayed by society. I desired to do my part to correct that misconception. I find it most rewarding to provide therapy and assessment in order to help my patients improve not only their mental health but their overall quality of life.

Outside of work, I enjoy running, practicing martial arts, enjoying nature when I can, and watching movies, and I believe these activities help me stay balanced and energized to support my clients.
